| Gossamer Wings The Bead Shoppe is located at 19th and Jackson Streets in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It's in Jackson Plaza, between Body & Sol and Curves. Directions: Approaching from the east on I-90: Take the first LaCrosse and Onalaska Hwy 16 Exit. Go left from the exit onto Hwy 16. Follow Hwy 16 past all the malls, past Pier One/Office Depot/Famous Dave's. Proceed on Hwy 16 with the bluffs on your left and the marsh on your right. Hwy 16 will take a sharp bend where it intersects with Losey Blvd. Take a left onto Losey. (Sound World is at that intersection. You've just gone about 5 miles.) Take Losey heading south till you get to the big intersection where K-Mart is. Take a right onto State Road. Go about 1 mile on State Rd and it becomes Jackson Street and makes a sharp bend. Right there, on your left is Jackson Plaza. Gossamer Wings is about 7 miles from the interstate. Approaching from Minnesota on I-90: Stay on the Minnesota side of the river taking the exit for La Crescent and Hwy 14/61. At La Crescent, there is only one stop light. Take a left and you'll go across the Mississippi and you'll be on Cass Street at the intersection with 3rd Street. There is construction on 3rd Street. So, it's best to proceed toward the bluffs (east) on Cass Street (i.e., keep going straight off the bridge). About 9 blocks later, turn right onto West Ave. Maybe a mile or so later, turn left onto Jackson (Taco John's, Walgreen's). Drive about 7 blocks and Jackson Street will take a sharp bend. There on your right is Jackson Plaza. Gossamer Wings is on the other side of the Plaza, facing the bluffs. Approaching from Minnesota on I-90 if you miss the La Crescent turn-off: Take the La Crosse Exit for Hwy 35 and 53 South. Hwy 35/53 is also Rose Street and Shopko will be on your left. Rose becomes Copeland Ave. and then becomes 3rd Street. Go through downtown. There is construction on 3rd Street. So, hang a left on Cass Street and proceed toward the bluffs (east) on Cass. Go right onto West Ave. Turn left onto Jackson. Drive about 7 blocks and Jackson Street will take a sharp bend. There on your right is Jackson Plaza. Gossamer Wings is on the other side of the Plaza, facing the bluffs. [Note: if you have some idea of where you're going, you could have turned onto La Crosse, State, Main, or King instead of Cass. Approaching from the South: Taking 35 north from Prairie du Chien or 14/61 from Viroqua, follow 35 (Mormon Coulee Rd.) into La Crosse. You'll pass Shopko and Ace on your left and come to a major intersection with Losey Blvd. Turn right on Losey. You'll pass McDonald's and some railroad tracks and about a mile later come to a major intersection with State Road. (You'll notice BP on your left, Village Shopping Center on your right and K-Mart across the street.) Turn left onto State Rd. Drive about a mile until State road takes a bend. Right at that bend is Jackson Plaza (on your left). What else is in Jackson Plaza? Bean Juice Coffee Roasters and Cafe is a really cool place to get a good extra fresh cup of coffee, read the paper, check your e-mail and have a panini sandwich. Allure Salon is a hair salon/spa and gift shop with lots of fun girly stuff. (Awesome purses, watches and nail polish.) Curves for Women is there if you want to work out. The Mac Guys sell Apple computers. The Dragon Chinese Restaurant has really good food and a great buffet for lunch. The lunch menu is only $4.75 for most stuff. And the newest additions to Jackson Plaza is the sushi restaurant, Yoko's! It's the La Crosse area's only sushi restaurant. And also The Candy Outlet where you can enjoy a piece of local fudge and other goodies! |
